UGC Entitled Universities for Online Degrees — 2026
The verified list of universities approved by UGC/DEB to offer Online degree programs in India. Only these institutions can award online degrees recognised at par with on-campus qualifications.
UGC Approved vs Entitled vs AICTE
Universities on the UGC's "Entitled" list are permitted to run fully online degree programs via DEB. This is the only valid status for an online degree recognised at par with on-campus degrees in India.
A university can be "UGC Approved" but still NOT entitled to offer online degrees. Always look for DEB entitlement specifically before enrolling in an online program.
AICTE regulates technical education (engineering, management). AICTE approval is different from UGC-DEB entitlement. A program can have both, but online degree recognition comes from UGC-DEB.
